   The Best Location for indoor gardens are places out of the way and in a room that doesn’t change temperature quickly such as a basement  or garage, controlling the variables is extremely important.
1st thing you need to do is arrange a place for the light you will be using . The Flowering room for your plants will need the biggest light. Lets assume you have acquired an HID ( High Intensity Discharge ) light .
Light intensity doubles for every 6 inches closer the plant is to the light source, if you have low light you will have a plant that will stre  -  -  tch. This is bad it will increase the internodes distance, you want as many internodes as possible because each one of these is where the fruit or flower will grow from.
For the Average grower you are going to benefit more from a 400W High Pressure Sodium Fixture  *They Provide More USABLE light  because they can be placed much closer .
Intensity = Light / Distance ( squared)



Distance               400 WATT HPS                    Lumens
1 foot 50,000     Lumens
2 feet 12,500     Lumens
3 feet 5,555       Lumens
4 feet 3,571       Lumens
Now that We have that understood, you will want to;
        - measure the distance from the floor to the roof.
A. Subtract 1 foot space for the light
B. Subtract Another 2 Feet for Light vs. Plant Space
C. Subtract the height of the plant before flower X3
D. Subtract height of hydro/aero Unit.

Now that you have enough space you can slowly start to lower the light daily until its too hot for the plant.
A. One way to test this is the popular hand trick which entails placing your hand at the level of the plant if it becomes too warm or even hot then you will heighten until its moderate to warm.
This will allow enough space for even the fastest growing plants.Different stage plants need different environments as shown in the image above!!
